Of Hakka origins, Henry grew up speaking Hakka, before learning Cantonese and English. Learning languages has always been a hobby for him, and he has learnt to varying degrees: Spanish, Mandarin, French, Korean and Turkish.
Despite being interested in both the humanities and the sciences, he decided to read English Literature at university, being greatly inspired by his English teachers. He matriculated at the University of Oxford in 2010, and in 2013, graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature with Honours. Following that, he studied for his Master's Degree in Romantic and Sentimental Literature at the University of York.
Without a doubt, Romanticism is his favourite period of literature, but he is also an avid fan of Sylvia Plath. In November 2011, he published a short essay entitled 'Sylvia Plath: An Osirian Rebirth' for Oxford University's Poetry Society's magazine, ASH. In March 2014, he presented a paper, ‘Sylvia Plath's Re-writing of Medusa: Collage, Collaboration, and an Overlooked Art Poem’ at the University of York's Centre for Modern Studies Postgraduate Forum.
Other than reading and writing, he also enjoys taking part in poetry readings, visiting art galleries, and travelling.
